What types of careers are there that involve working with animals?

Can you answer I’m mad, you’re mad!’s question about Careers?:

I’m interested in working with animals.

So, what careers are there that involve them?

I’m ecspecially interested in helping animals.

I’m not terribly good at mathematics, so preferably something that doesnt require massive skills with numbers.

It doesnt even have to be a job that has direct contact with the animal.

If you’ve had any experience in a career that involved working with them, how did you like it?

Alrighties, thanks!

Careers Feedback: Sounds like you’d make a wonderful veterinary technician or assistant. If you have a local vet, why don’t you stop into the office and ask if they ever have room for part-time assistants? If you have a ‘way with animals’, I suspect being in a vet office setting would be great for you. If you can’t get a paying job at a vets office, try a local shelter for starters. Volunteer at the shelter, where you can spend time with the animals, and ‘puff and fluff’ them and play with them. Sometimes the shelters need people who will socialize with the pets so that they can determine which ones are ‘adoptable’ by what kind of family. Once you begin to get involved in a ‘hands on’ capacity, you will begin to learn just what opportunities are out there for someone with your abilities. In the meantime, you will be learning ‘on the job’ and finding out what parts of the field you like the most. It’s a win-win situation!
